I had a great impromptu dinner this evening with a few friends. After about 7 hours of talking about myself I found myself feeling really thankful for all the situations my eyes have gotten to see just by the reaction of my dinner company. Most of the time I try not to flaunt some of the experiences I’ve gotten to be a part of. Let’s just say there’s been some good times, with really cool and sometime famous people. However, that’s not the point.
I enjoy the quiet chill dinners just as much as a situation that could even remotely be bragged about. All in all, on my Birthday I feel extremely lucky. I feel lucky to be blessed with my life and talents, and for all the people I’ve got to hug, high five, write music with, get advice from, say goodbye to, not say goodbye to, text, embarrass, laugh with, and…well you get the point.
I got a great text tonight from a friend with some instructions for taking in things today. Yes, I am lucky enough with the above but it’s also Friday. Friday Birthdays are the best. I will be a touch selfish in my own mind. I will take my time driving everywhere. I will get a coffee from The French Laundry (even if I’m late to work). I will take someone up on the Birthday lunch offer. I will finish the day doing the one thing my heart loves most (so far in life) making music in the studio with a few great friends. A man can’t ask for much more, and if I had the chance…I wouldn’t ask for anything else.
